ISO 9001:2015

Try not to worry about the ISO 9001:2015 revision and try not to listen to scare stories, just carry on doing what you are doing and make changes slowly. Because to be clear, there are not that many new things you need to do.

ISO 9001:2015 is a standard that accommodates all organisations of all shapes and sizes. In fact the standard itself is a lot more easy going where demands for documentation is concerned. So that’s a move forward, not backward, standards are here to:

  1. Help you to get more efficient, improve gradually;
  2. To support you and your staff;
  3. Reduce your risk and increase your opportunities.

“ISO 9001 now encourages you to take the responsibility for documentation yourselves, instead of demands for ‘mandatory procedures’. This has been replaced by a sensible attitude towards documentation.”

Standards are excellent vehicles to help your organisation, the ISO 9001:2015 standard is no different, in fact it’s better that the previous version.

The changes are positive, the structure is better and it’s easier to integrate and understand. It is better if you read it once or twice but the summary is below for you:

Clause 4

Context - who you are, what you do, who you affect and the issues that you face. A welcome change which will help your organisation.

Clause 5

Leadership - Similar to ISO 9001:2008, a quality policy is required.

Clause 6

Planning - Address risk and opportunity to protect your organisation, a welcome addition.

Clause 7

Support - Your set up, infrastructure, personnel and environment.

Clause 8

“We can explain the changes to you in further detail, just email us or telephone and we can discuss it properly with you without charge. But if you require a bit more we have developed a simple pack to help you to change over.”
